Behind the scenes the tool runs entirely in your browser and downscales in successive halving steps rather than one jump. How to use it

Will the format change?

What does "lock aspect ratio" do?
When the lock is on, changing the width auto-fills a matching height so the image is not stretched. Turn the lock off if you want a deliberate squash or stretch to an exact size.
Can I upscale a small image?
Yes, up to 10000 pixels on a side. Upscaling interpolates pixels rather than inventing detail, so a small photo will look soft. For a sharper result, run it through the image enhancer instead.
Is my image stored?
No. The resize is a canvas draw at the new dimensions, done entirely in the page. Your photo never leaves the tab, and the file on your disk is never modified — you get a separate resized download.
